Art Journal Page

Watercolor & Ink

I read this quote for the very first time yesterday. I LOVED it and knew that I had to add this quote to a painting. On watercolor paper I used a stencil to draw the butterfly. Then I filled the butterfly in with Zentangles. I used Prismacolor permanet pens on this painting, because I knew that I wanted to watercolor the butterfly. I used a turquoise color for the butterfly. I LOVE the way that this painting turned out. I am going to frame it and put it in my dinning room.

I Zentangled this fish on watercolor paper. First I sprayed the background with my homemade alochol ink. Then drew the fish, painted the fish with watercolors, and Zentangled the fish. This is a gift for a someone. :)

I am wearing a very Groovy Dress

Doodle Art
I colored this Doodle with Geli Roll pens. I used colored pencil on her face and hands.

Trust Your Wings

I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I got up and had a bit of a play in my studio. I only used 3 colors pink, orange, and cream. I outlined everything in black paint pen. I put a border of washi tape around the edges of my page. It had little birds, hearts, and flowers on it. Turned out to be way to busy, so I painted over the tape with pink paint, then doodled around the edges a bit. I stamped the ladybug, and the words. Just a very simple art journal page.

Junk Journal

I used one of my original 6" x 12" watercolor paintings to make the front and back covers of this journal. I cut the painting in half and mounted it on chip board, for the front and back cover of the journal. Their are 5 envelopes mixed into the pages of the journal for storing bits and pieces of things. Their are 55 journaling pages made up of vintage ephemera, sheet music, scrapbook paper, and plain white paper.
the journal measures 6" x 6"
I bound the journal with my bind it all, so when the journal is open all of the pages lay flat.
Perfect for making lists

Art Journal Tag

I decided to try out my new homemade blue alcohol ink. I made an Art Journal tag, and a pocket to slip the tag into. I colored the embellishments with my blue alcohol ink spray. I also sprayed the journaling tag. I am going to use this as a card. I just Love it!!!

How to make Alcohol Ink

Supplies : 70% Rubbing Alcohol
                 a colored marker
                 needle nose pliers
                  a baby food jar
                 a small spray bottle
                  scissor
                  Funnel
This is probably the easiest Art supply that I have ever made. I put 2 ounces of 70% rubbing alcohol into a baby food jar. I used a needle nose pliers to take apart my marker. I pulled the tip of the marker out and put it into the rubbing alcohol. Next I used the needle nose pliers to take apart the marker, so that I could get to the ink pad inside of the marker. I took the ink pad out of the marker, and cut it into 4 smaller pieces and placed the pieces into the 70% rubbing alcohol. I put the cap on the baby food jar, and let it sit for 2 hours. After two hours, I took the marker pieces out of the baby food jar. I poured the alcohol ink into the spray bottle through a funnel. Then sprayed away. It is just that easy to make alcohol ink. The ink in the bottle looks like a very dark blue, when I sprayed the ink out it was a light blue, the same color as the marker was before I put it into the alcohol. If I want a darker ink, I think that I should put 2 markers into the alcohol, or use less alcohol, maybe only 1 ounce of alcohol for 1 marker. I am for sure going to make more alcohol ink! I am happy with the way that my ink turned out :)

Watercolor and Ink

I used Turquoise and Black on thus Butterfly. I used watercolors, painting the turquoise wet on wet, and I painted the black on pretty dry paper. I love how the turquoise color turned out. I outlined everything with black Ink. I used a white Gel pen to make the white markings on the butterfly wings. I used black Ink for the lettering, I was sure that the lettering would look much more crisp done in pen.

Watercolor and Ink

It is a Beautiful Spring day in South Dakota. I spent the afternoon outside with my water color paints, and ink pen. I think that outlining the watercolor painting with ink really makes the colors pop. I only used 3 colors in this painting. I just made some of the colors lighter or darker with water. I Love how the painting turned out!
