A Good Day, A Very Good Day

We went on a little road trip to Yankton, S.D. today. We had lunch at Bonanza, went to the Westside Park and toured the Dakota Territorial Museum. Then headed over to Riverside Park and I did a quick watercolor sketch of a portion of the  bridge that is in that park. We made out way over to Myron Grove and I put my feet in the Missouri River. It was a Good day! A very Good day!!!

Watercolor Journal

I made myself a new watercolor journal. I used a 7gypsies book cover for the front & back of my journal. I used Duck Tape on the inside of my front and back covers. I purchased this Duck Tape probably over a year ago and never used it. I bought it because it is cute, wit no idea what I would use it for. This journal was the perfect opportunity to use it. The only embellishment that I put on the journal is a metal sticker that says JOURNEY. I am on a watercolor journey this summer, and it is a FUN journey! The journal measures 5" x 7" and fits perfectly into my watercolor travel kit. I only put 16 pages in the book, because when painted on the pages expand, and I still wanted to be able to close the journal when it is finished.

Monoprint Necklace

This necklace is hand painted from one of my monoprints.
Monoprinting is a form of print making that has images or lines that can only be made once.
I also made the cord from embroidery floss with a lucet.
A lucet cord is square, strong, and slightly springy.
The cord is formed by making a series of loops, that are weaved around the lucet.
A lucet, which is a tool used in cord making.
This tool dates back to Viking and Medieval periods.

The cord on this necklace is 18" long.

This pendant is water resistant, but not waterproof.

I used toggle clasp on this necklace, making it very easy to put on ad take off.

You can find this necklace in my Etsy Shop .

Watercolor live sketch at Falls Park

My husband & I drove to Sioux Falls This evening so that I could do a little live sketching at Falls Park. I really enjoy painting outside!!! I felt the Sun on my back, and a breeze on my face.  I did a bit of sketching in pencil, most of the sketching I did with the paint brush. This was a very fast sketch, it took me about 25 minutes to finish the painting. I painted in my small watercolor journal. I really enjoy live sketching, and I am going to do a lot more of it this summer. The only problem that I had was my paint dried very Fast in the Sun, an bugs keep getting into my paints.

Watercolor Frog

It is a Beautiful Day here in South Dakota today. I worked on my tan a bit this afternoon. When I came in, I sat out on my South porch and painted a frog in my little watercolor journal.

Watercolor & Ink Bridge

For this painting I just sketched the bridge, because it was surrounded by trees & water. I painted the bridge first, some parts of the bridge were so light, it was almost white. Then I painted the water, and filled in the rest of the painting with trees. There were trees all around the bridge. When he painting was dry I added ink to help define the painting. The Sun was very Bright this day. This bridge is in Beaver Creek Nature Area in Brandon, S. D.

Watercolor & Ink Just Chillin

Tonight my husband and I are just Chillin on our south Porch. So I got my little watercolor sketch journal out, and did a quick little live sketch of him.

Watercolor & Ink

This is Arrowhead Park in Sioux Falls, SD. With this little painting I did all of my sketching with the paint brush. No pencil on this one. I used both ends of my paint brush to paint the trees in the background. I started the painting with the lightest colors, the sky and the water. When I finished painting the picture I added Ink in places to help define the painting.
