Butterfly on a Zinnia
I only used 3 watercolors for this painting.
Colors red, yellow, & blue.
I mixed blue & yellow to get the green.
I mixed Yellow & red to get the orange.
I mixed yellow, red, & blue to get the black.
I used Gesso for the white on the Butterfly.
The most difficult color to mix was the black. I would get a muddy brown, then a dark green, & even a deep purple before finally getting the right mix of the 3 colors to make the black.
I used red, yellow, & blue for the background, then salted the background, to get the look that I wanted for the background.
