Mixed Media Art Journal Page

I used Creative Girl mixed media techniques on this page. With watercolor paints, glitter glue, confetti that I made using small heart & star punches, and black ink. The phrase that I used came from Tim Holtz Small Talk stickers. I am happy with the way that my page turned out, and I plan on using the Creative Girl techniques again.

Mixed Media note card

I made a quick little note card with one of the ACT's that I made the other day. I made a five petal flower from one of my Gelli prints, & used the same Gelli print to layer under my ATC. Then I painted around the Gelli print, the ATC, & the flower petals, with puffy paint, to make this cute little note card.

It has been a while since I have done any mixed media.
I have been focusing on improving my drawing lately.
I spent much of the day yesterday making a set of ATC cards.
I think that I am going to work on them a bit more & make them into note cards.

I used a HB, 2B, 4B, 6B pencil. I held my pencil in the underhand position , and used the flat side of my pencil for most of the drawing. I used the point of my pencil to get the small detail.

I did the drawing on a 4" x 6" index card.

Carrots

My husband had a dentist appointment this morning. Just a routine cleaning. Our dentist has a garden, She grew carrots this year. After Matt's appointment was over she asked him if he wanted some carrots. He said sure. She gave him two HUGE carrots! these carrots weighed 3 lbs together!!! How often do you do to the dentist and come home with 3 lbs of carrots? LOL. Small town life! I Love it!

I don't know why I drew it on watercolor paper,
I should have used mixed media paper for easier shading.
I enjoyed the class so much.

Fall Decoration

I made a Fall decoration for my South Porch this evening. Fall is my favorite color. I bought the Indian Corn at a Hutterite Store. I have had the metal leaves for a few years. I think that I bought them at Hobby Lobby. The Harvest colored ribbon I have had since 2009, and never used it until today. I guess I was waiting for just the right project.

I made a Leather Midori style Travelers Notebook in the Field Notes size. I also made three inserts for the note book. I made this for a friend I hope that she likes it.

Garage Sale Find

I Love the Deep Blue color on this bottle!
I bought it for $1.00.
As soon as the inspiration hits me I am going to alter this bottle.

Zentangle

I used a dylusions stamp for the face, then Zentangled hair around the face.

Paper Bead Necklace

I made myself a new paper bead necklace. I made the paper beads with designer paper & cereal boxes. I used 20 paper beads & 21 seed beads. I purchased the heart pendent, and put a small key inside the heart and filled the heart with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic. This was a Fun necklace to make & it is going to be a fun necklace to wear.

Do you like my new frame?

I painted this watercolor rooster in June. It was a 9 x 12 painting, so I put it in an 11 x 14 frame. Yesterday I was shopping at Wal Mart in the craft department, and saw this 8 x 10 frame with chicken wire in it. I thought this frame would be perfect for my rooster painting. So I cut the painting down & reframed it. What do you think? Better with the new frame?

I only used 3 watercolors for this painting.
Colors red, yellow, & blue.
I mixed blue & yellow to get the green.
I mixed Yellow & red to get the orange.
I mixed yellow, red, & blue to get the black.
I used Gesso for the white on the Butterfly.
The most difficult color to mix was the black. I would get a muddy brown, then a dark green, & even a deep purple before finally getting the right mix of the 3 colors to make the black.
I used red, yellow, & blue for the background, then salted the background, to get the look that I wanted for the background.
