This painting is Pen & Ink with a watercolor wash. The reference photo for this painting was taken by Max Hemingway. He named the photo Secret Door. While painting this drawing with the watercolor wash, I wanted to make the bricks look more realistic, so my husband swept our driveway for me to get a bit of sand. While the wash on the bricks was still wet, I sprinkled sand over the brick area. I think that the sand did make a difference, and helped the bricks look a bit more realistic. I am happy with this painting.
The inspiration for this altered glass bottle came from Mixed Media Artist Ilene Barrette McInnes. To cover my glass bottle I used torn book pages, a potion of the cover of the book, embroidery floss, 2 paper beads, 2 seed beads, & Mod Podge Antique Matt. I really like the way that my altered glass bottle turned out. :)
Pen & Ink Rooster with a watercolor wash. The photo reference for this painting is from my knitting friend, and Amazing photographer Nancy Blanchong. This is her very handsome rooster Geronimo.
I have wanted to paint a window all summer. Just a window. Not just any old window. I wanted a window with character. Everywhere we went this summer I looked, and looked for the perfect window. I could not find one that I really liked and wanted to paint. Then I found a web site called Paint my Photo, and that is where I found the window that I wanted to paint. The reference photo for this Pen, Ink, & watercolor wash, painting was taken by Ruth Archer. She named the photo, Seem Better Days. I fell in LOVE with the photo and just had to paint it!
